These DVDs appear to use a straight-forward fomula of showing a variety of visual representations of a thing accompanied with its name and any associated noise. Towards the end of the DVDs they become interactive inviting the viewer to identify the things introduced earlier. Self- conscious children aware that they are being filmed appear throughout the programmes.The task of linking a name to an object is adhered to relentlessly. This work ethic is too much for our 7 month old twins who become agitated after 10 minutes or so, where as they do sit contentedly through other DVDs of the same genre from start to finish.The background music often seems incongruous to the visuals. Irrespective of the visual stimuli the music can change from something resembling the anodyne copyright-free piped music heard in fastfood outlets to manic jazz.The visuals appear to be from the USA with shots of American fire engines, school buses, etc. The voice-overs however sound British.One of the 10 DVDs is dedicated to colour recognition. The part of this DVD attempting to discern between black and white shows a black child in white clothes and white child in black clothes. It is perplexing as to why this is included and its aim.I still hope to use this product to help our children develope but it does not at the moment engage them for very long, we will therefore be using it in short bursts. I bought this box set at a very good price from Amazon and I am disappointed. Had I have paid the full asking price I would have been seeking a refund.
